LET'S TACKLE OCEAN PLASTIC

ONE EGG AT A TIME

The Most Sustainable Egg.

Since the beginning of ecoegg, our journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of sustainable solutions.

Now, in a new collaboration with Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants as part of Operation Sea Change, we’re elevating our mission to new heights – uniting to cleanse our oceans and amplify the message far and wide. Each year, a staggering 11 million tonnes of plastic invade our oceans, disrupting the delicate homes of marine life (United Nations Environment Programme). That’s why we are proud to announce our collaboration with Paramount Consumer Products and Nickelodeon in support of SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Sea Change, to play our part in helping to protect the home of our beloved sponge.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Sea Change: Protecting our Oceans from Plastic Pollution

The Problem

Want to know more about the issue of plastic pollution and why we are working together to prevent it?

According to the United Nations Environment Programme, a staggering 11 million tonnes of plastic infiltrate the ocean annually, endangering marine life.

How does it impact the marine ecosystem?

Every year, an estimated 100,000 marine mammals tragically lose their lives due to plastic debris. This staggering and preventable loss highlights a critical call for action.

Group 101

Marine life faces multiple threats: Ingestion, suffocation, and entanglement are the primary culprits, and our actions play a pivotal role in their well-being

Ingestion

The ingestion of plastic poses a grave danger. In 2019, one whale was found washed up with 40kg of plastic in its stomach, predominantly comprising plastic bags. This stark reality underscores the critical need to address plastic pollution.

Suffocation

Ghost fishing gear emerges as a silent yet significant threat. Abandoned fishing gear continues to trap and suffocate marine life, perpetuating a cycle of harm.

Entanglement

Six-pack rings, seemingly innocuous, become potential hazards when discarded. Turtles, in particular, fall victim to these rings, with entanglement around shells and necks posing a serious threat to their lives. We are dedicated to raising awareness and preventing such entanglements through responsible practices.

Invasion

Over 8 million tonnes of plastic bottles end up in the ocean each year. Due to plastics stubborn breakdown, a bottle can last for 450 years in the marine environment. Our mission is to discourage the reliance on plastic detergent bottles, and diminish the threat to marine life by reducing the saddening above figure.
