story of plastic problem

We Are Putting Our Best Eggs Forward To Make Laundry Day A Lighter Load For The Planet. Heres How.

plastic production 2

The 1950s oversaw the beginnings of the mass production of synthetic plastics. The material proved inexpensive, durable and lightweighta capital dream

The downside.

Plastic can take up to 1000 years to completely decompose. In the meantime this pollutes our environment and harms wildlife (Ogura, 2021)As a result, millions of plastic is entering our oceans and water systems DAILY, currently ranging from 4-23 million metric tonnes per year. (2021)

The flawed recycling system.

The millions of plastic wastes produced is supposedly solved by the recycling system. HOWEVER, the system relies on exporting waste to other parts of the world with no sufficient checks to assess whether materials can be recycled or not. (Office, 2018) The problem cannot be solved if those from the top do not follow through with and monitor their initiatives.

The reality.

Approximately 36 percent of all plastics are used in packaging, of which approximately 85 per cent ends up in landfills or as unregulated waste. (UNEP, n.d.) This creates damaging consequences for aquatic life, their ecosystems and the chemical pollutants being released into the environment.

We are sure you are fantastic at recycling your plastic bottles. However, only 44.2 of plastic bottles were recycled in 2021 in the UK ( Gov.uk) This means even if we designed a recyclable detergent system, we cant RELY on consumers to do their bit and recycle.

weve hatched a solution

We are putting our best eggs forward to mobilise systematic change from above.

Refill and reuse, not landfill. Our REFILLABLE eggs come with a 10 year guarantee, meaning we are eliminating the need to recycle plastic detergent bottles for years and years to come.

It’s not all about recycling when it comes to cutting down on C02! Heres a diagram of our refill pellets versus plastic detergent bottles. This shows just how much space we save, how much lighter we are and how many plastic bottles are eliminated from the system. After all, a cleaner planet starts in the laundry basket.
