7 eco-friendly cleaning tips to set you up for spring

Now that our days are slowly getting brighter and lighter, it’s time to start thinking about a Spring clean. There’s nothing better than decluttering from Winter and starting fresh. We’ll be sharing our favourite eco-friendly cleaning tips to help you get started on your clean and save money while doing so!

1. Save money by making your own all-purpose cleaner

Did you know you can make your own all-purpose cleaner spray and it’s super easy to make, you probably already have everything you need already in your cupboard.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Essential oil (optional)

Simply mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle, we like reusing our old bottles rather than buying new. You can also add a few drops of essential oils for a light scent, we recommend lemon or tea tree oil as these add antibacterial properties to your surface spray.

2. Did you know you can use baking soda for tougher stains?

Baking soda is great ingredient to have in your pantry and your cleaning cupboard. You can use baking soda as a natural abrasive cleaner for tougher stains and grime. Sprinkle it on surfaces like stovetops or sinks, then scrub with a damp cloth or sponge. It’s gentle on surfaces but tough on dirt.

3. Switch to reusable cleaning cloths

Why not make the switch from traditional kitchen roll to something a little more eco-friendly?  Our Bamboo Towels reduce waste as they are reusable for up to 1700 times. And not only that, our Bamboo Towels are more durable than traditional kitchen roll and it’s sustainably sourced.

4. Brighten up your whites with our Whites + Lights Laundry Detergent Egg

Did you know we also offer a detergent kit specifically developed for your whites and lights? The pellets have been designed with an extra oxi brightener that revitalizes and brightens your whites, making them brighter with every wash.

5. Air Fresheners Without Chemicals

Personally, we think you can’t beat the scent of citrus and cinnamon, it’s the perfect cosy scent while we await the arrival of spring. You can make your own stovetop potpourri, simply boil some water in a saucepan & add your natural ingredients. We like adding cinnamon sticks and citrus peels.

For more lingering odours, add some baking soda to a bowl with a few drops of essential oils of your choice. This will absorb odours, leaving your home light and fresh.

6. Wash your laundry with an Ecoegg Laundry Detergent Egg
